Setareh Vistamehr, M.D.

Setareh Vistamehr, M.D. specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of diseases of the eye. She has subspecialized in diseases of the retina and vitreous, including diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular disease, macular holes and puckers, retinal detachment and retinal vascular disease.   

Dr. Vistamehr earned her medical degree from Beheshti Medical School, formerly Melli University, one of the top Medical Schools in Tehran.  After completing her internship at Griffin hospital, she completed one additional year of research focusing on retinal synaptic plasticity at the Yale University Retinal Electrophysiology lab. 

Dr. Vistamehr then completed a three-year Ophthalmology residency at Yale University.   

Dr. Vistamehr continued her training with a two-year medical and surgical Vitreoretinal Fellowship at Yale University. After finishing her training, she practiced 2 years in a busy multispecialty private practice in California and relocated to Maryland to Vista Eye Center, with the goal of providing highest quality eye care in a personalized setting. 

Dr. Vistamehr is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Retina Specialists.

Dr. Vistamehr is an active contributor to peer reviewed journals including the “Visual Neuroscience”, “Glaucoma”, “Ophthalmology”and “Retinal cases and Brief reports” that can be accessed at: www.pubmed.gov

Dr. Vistamehr sees patients in her office in Rockville and is on staff at Johns Hopkins Suburban Hospital, Johns Hopkins  Suburban Surgery center and Montgomery surgery center.
